I get so many questions on moisture . Deep conditioning is plays a MAJOR factor in the installation of moisture and moisture retention, but what if your not getting the most out of your deep conditioning process?
1. Your not using protein treatments:
Hair is all about balance. So if moisture is your goal using moisturizing conditioners most likely seem logical right? Well not exactly, with out the proper protein/moisture balance the hair will not retain moisture leading to dry hair. Incorporating protein treatments is key to moisture retention. Look for words like “strengthen”, “rebuilding” and ingredients like “hydrolyzed protein” to know your getting a protein based conditioner.
2. Your not working the product through:
Whether you prefer to finger detangle or use a styling tool working the deep conditioner through is extremely important. Instead of just quickly slapping on conditioner (which I know some of y’all are guilty of doing) take your time. I start by parting my hair into 4 parts then working through each quadrant by dividing it into sub sections. This might seem like an obvious step but really it’s not. Conditioner should be thoroughly worked in from ends ( focusing on the ends) to roots. This will ensure every strand is soaking up the benefits of the deep conditioning process.
